Magic Erasers (melamine foam) act as microscopic sandpaper, so detailers use them primarily as a last-resort spot cleaner on tough interior surfaces. They work purely through physical abrasion rather than chemical action.

Common Detailing Uses

• Scuffed Door Sills & Kick Panels: Removing heavy shoe scuffs, transfer marks, and ground-in dirt from hard textured plastics along lower door frames.

• Steering Wheel Slickness: Stripping stubborn body oils, lotion buildup, and gloss off heavily soiled leather or vinyl steering wheels to restore a factory matte finish (must be done with extreme care).

• Textured Plastic Trims: Cleaning embedded grime out of vinyl grain pattern areas where soft brushes can't pull out the dirt.

• Glass Film: Scrubbing the inside of clear windshields or windows to cut through tough off-gassing film and smoker tar residue (never use on aftermarket window tint films).

Critical Precautions

• Never Use on Exterior Paint or Clear Coat: It will dull the finish, scratch the clear coat, and leave haze that requires machine polishing to fix.

• Avoid Smooth/Coated Leather: Repeated or heavy scrubbing strips the protective topcoat and color layer, causing permanent fading and cracking.

• Keep Pressure Light: Always saturate the foam with water or an all-purpose cleaner (APC) to reduce friction, and test a hidden spot first.
